BADGER FIELD SURVEYS
The signs that badgers leave as they go about their activities in the field play an important part in understanding what solutions will best fit specific circumstances. When needed, we augment our field sign expertise with remote use night camera technology to provide as accurate a picture as possible of local badger activity. Results are used to produce the survey reports needed as part of the local authority planning process while also informing mitigation action plans.
In some (rare) cases, we use the additional tool of ‘bait marking’ to help understand local badger populations. Bait marking involves feeding bait containing harmless coloured pellets to badgers over sufficient time to allow the these to appear in dung latrines. Field survey and mapped results then reveals useful information about territories.
